Hooves and Paws

For as long as I can remember, there has been a wet-nosed fluffy face by my side.  My mother was a successful breeder in Illinois and Missouri, so, I’ve witnessed many aspects of keeping pets healthy and safe.  Often times, I saw more than I wanted to, especially since I grew up in rural America.

Over the last 13 years, I’ve had a non-profit, the WHY Ranch, which housed: 13 horses, 3 goats, 15 bunnies, 20+ chickens and ducks, 4 cats and 3 dogs. Well, if you count my daughter’s cutie pies visiting the ranch, it was 5 dogs.

The biggest drive I have to advocate for pets and their owners is that of loss.  As a pet owner, we all know loss is an inevitable part of the process. Yet, I’ve lost some of my pets too soon due to rare diseases and cancer.

I lost my dogs, Neiko, at age 8 to Myasthenia Gravis, Lexus at age 9 to rapid cancer, and Spicegirl at age 9 to tumors in her body.

We’ve lost horses more than a decade too soon, too—Peanut at age 8 to Cervical Vertebral Stenotic Myelopathy (CSM), Ghost at age 18 to Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM) and Hayden to Colic at age 12. Our goat, Stella, died at age 3 due to frothy bloat.

And the list goes on. Oh, did you know rabbits can get lupus? I didn’t even know that until I owned them!  I believe there’s a reason for that and it’s in the products we feed to our pets and even the products we give to our pets to play with.

Frustrated at losing my pets too soon, I searched for other resources to support our fur babies’ immune systems. And I finally found them.

I have seen the results of using organic, natural and holistic alternatives to address today’s pet health issues and wholeheartedly believe that solutions for you lie within these pages.

I’ll introduce to you the best food and supplements I’ve found for all animals—from Horses to mice. (I have a ranch, so, I have a bit of experience in these areas.  LOL).

I hope that by sharing my stories and little tidbits of information I’ve learned over the years, it will give your pet(s) a longer, healthier life.

So, follow along as I share my experiences and stories, and feel free to ask questions! I’m here to help.

Be Greatly Blessed & Stay Groovy!

Amy (and my hubby, Curtis, and our fur babies Braveheart, Melody, Mercedes and Lady Zsa Zsa)
