Pet Prep for a Steamy Summer

Summer unofficially began Memorial Day weekend and those summer temps are creeping upwards. And Southeast Missouri has something else that makes summertime unbearable most days—humidity. It sucks the life out of me every year, but, luckily, I have a something that helps me through the summer season—a pool.

Mercedes, my oldest pup, loves to swim! She jumps in the pool no matter what the temperature is outside. And last summer, Curtis and I slowly introduced Lady Zsa-Zsa to the water to build her self-esteem. She's a little more bold and will get close to the pool, but she's still not very confident about getting in the water.

So, we have two different puppies with different needs when around the pool. Because Mercedes' hair is so thick, especially around her neck, combined with the humidity, it creates a breeding ground for mildew and bacteria that can cause sever dermal issues if not treated properly. So, for Mercedes, I have to have a shampoo that is natural and combats bacteria. Zsa-Zsa, on the other hand, has thin hair that grows unbelievably fast and her skin is easily exposed, so she needs a shampoo that protects her skin.

Because our fur babies mean the world to us, we always choose products to keep them healthy and their fur/hair soft, as well as enhance and promote a healthy lifestyle that nourishes the inner and outer body. I keep in mind that anything I put on my body also soaks into my skin and becomes a part of my body. So, why would this same theory not work for our furry little soul?

After much research, Curtis and I found an awesome shampoo—the Skinny Dip Shampoo. It contains CBD, which is widely known as to calm any skin issues and also protect hair and fur. I bet Curtis and I can even use it for our own hair if we needed.

Since my family has been using Skinny Dip Shampoo for Mercedes, she has not smelled like mildew or had any skin conditions associated with thick fur. Zsa-Zsa has not had any issues with her sensitive skin due to traditional pool disinfectants and her hair is soft and doesn't shed as much as before. And one of the best things about this shampoo is it isn’t pet-specific. Horses, dogs and cats can all benefit from Skinny Dip Shampoo.

I believe that it's important for every pet parent to find the right products to keep fur babies healthy and live longer. Curtis, Mercedes, Lady Zsa-Zsa, Melody, Brave and I wish you a happy and healthy summer.
