Investing in Self-Improvement: 2021 Resolve
I have a slight confession (FYI, not my New Year’s Confession), I Love reading blogs about personal growth, mindfulness and just doing something different that’s out of your comfort zone. My philosophy is that you can only grow through the experience of others.
Now, y’all’ll (that’s 'you all will' for those of you not from the south) understand that to have growth, there must be desire and risk. Desire to make a change and taking a risk on something that you haven’t done before. Why this is so fun? Because you are the one who benefits and shines from “growth” foremost and then you can bless other's with your new self.
So, Y’all are just getting to know me and anticipating what I may do next. All I promise is that this will be a fun ride. I see life a little differently than others and have a different perspective than you may expect, but that's only a part of my charm. And you’ll discover that you have unique little qualities about you that makes you unlike anyone else.
I'm not alone in wanting to make some improvements in my life. I talk to my friends and even people I just meet in passing who all share the same desire to do something different that will enhance their lives. Personally, I see this as another Resolve instead of a Resolution. Resolves tend to bare more fruit because it's interesting and attainable.
When I was in high school, I couldn't wait to get out and do what I wanted to do when I wanted and explore all the possibilities. I had the attitude that the world was at my fingertips! I did very well in college because I had choices and I made the best of them to help me navigate my adult life when I was on my own in the cold cruel world.
That's exactly how my spirit feels going into this Age of Aquarius. During 2020, we were thrown into an impromptu improve masterclass. In the beginning of our World Pandemic, my world was rocked and it took some time to see that the lonely, quarantined world we lived in was actually giving us an opportunity to rediscover some things about ourselves.
It was clear to me what those rediscoveries should be..... ALL those Online Courses I Paid for and Never Took! One in particular is the Master Class series. Oh, when I signed up for that I was going to set aside time in each day to learn from a Master Chef. I didn't sign up for the course to become a chef. I signed up for it because of my curiosity to create some cool culinary delights in my home. My hubby and I loved going to many of the new restaurants in Las Vegas when we lived there and honestly. It was like I had a personal chef whenever I didn't want to cook. The quality of the restaurants and food spoiled me.
So, when Curtis and I moved to MO to be closer to my mom, we found a few excellent restaurants but the variety isn't available. My desire for cooking good food comes from my Italian roots. When I was growing up I always looked forward to making Raviolis for our family Christmas dinners. Everyone was involved in the daylong process. We nibbled on greasy meat (Various forms of salami) and anti-pasta while sharing stories from the past and the latest gossip.
Those memories have been the biggest reason I wanted to Master the Art of Cooking in my adult life so I can pass on the traditions and add a few of my own. Now it was time to put the desire to the test. I started to delve into Master Class after Master Class beginning with Gordan Ramsey, then Emeril, Giada, Trisha Yearwood, the Neelys, etc. Each class I learned more about layering flavors and creating truly delicious meals that could rival experienced Chefs in the area.
I had successes and failures but each time I tried something new, I became closer to my goals. Praise God that I have a patient husband who supports my little venture. A common resolution is to eat healthier, right? Well, I use my talents side by side to have a Super Win with my Resolves and goals.
I discovered that I can make my dishes a little healthier and have consistent taste by using essential oils. I have so many recipes that I can't wait to share with you. I hope you're encouraged to explore some new recipes and try them yourself. I'm so excited to help you grow in your cooking skills that I shared my Christmas Ravioli recipe with a few twists. While I'm on my journey to become a better home chef, as I discover new recipes and techniques, I'll be sharing my favorite recipes with you throughout the year.
We’re all trying to be better people and improve ourselves this year and the great thing is that you don't have to wait for a particular date to start. What you want is at your fingertips just waiting for you to reach out and grab it. You are the reason why I'm writing my little mono-blogue (LOL I just made up that new word to hopefully put a smile on your face). We all need to start somewhere and get guidance from someone who can encourage you throughout your own special journey.
Go out there, my friend. Take an inventory of what you've always wanted to do and see if you can attain it. I’m betting on you. I believe you'll attain at least one of your dreams/desires to better your life this year. You deserve it for yourself and then to enhance the lives of others. It's the gift that keeps on giving but takes care of You first.
I’m truly so appreciative that you are here with me. We all need each other especially now when we may need a little laugh or guidance to get us through a rough spot in our day.
Until we meet again... Buona Mangiata! (Happy Eating) Fondly, Amy
